For those considering EV ownership, one of the big questions is – how do I keep my EV charged? Luckily, it’s not hard! Keep reading below to learn about various charging methods, including at-home and on-the-go!

Easy At-Home Charger Installation

Whether you end up with a Wagoneer S, Jeep 4xe model, Dodge Hornet R/T, or Pacifica Plugin Hybrid, there will be two convenient at-home charging solutions for you to choose from. A Level 1 (120-volt) charging system comes standard on EV purchases. It conveniently plugs into any typical household outlet. This charger will charge a PHEV in about 10 hours, which is perfect for overnight charging! Next is the available Free2move Charge Level 2 Charger (240-volt). It does require professional home installation, but is highly recomended for the PHEV and BEV models. The Level 2 significantly speeds up charging time, with plug-in hybrid vehicles getting to a full charge in 2.5 hours and full EV models charging in 8-10 hours.

Installing an At-Home Charger

For those interested in a Level 2 charger, we have partnered with Qmerit home charging stations, making the entrie installation procees simple! To get started all you will need to do is provide some basic info about your home layout and electrical panel. Qmerit will give provide a free estimate that only takes about 5-10 minutes! The Level 2 charger makes your routine easy with its convenient built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows for charging control through a mobile app or web portal. The smart grid optimization even allows you to reduce energy costs by charging at low-rate times and participate in available programs to further lower the cost of owning and driving your PHEV.

Public Charging Stations in the Area

When it comes to charging your EV on the go, the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area is a great place to be! There are over 200 public charging stations in Ann Arbor, and 21 offer free EV charging! If you have a fully electric vehicle, there are about 50 Fast Chargers spread throughout the area. Using an app such as the Free2move Charge app is a great way to find an open charger, wherever you are!
