WHAT IS CONSIDERED DISTRACTED DRIVING?
You are twice as likely to get into a car crash if you are texting while driving. Distractions while driving has become a major epidemic with “texting” particular. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that, of drivers 15-19 years old in fatal crashes, 21% of the distracted drivers were distracted by using their cell phones. 25% of teens respond to a text message once or more every time they drive, 20% of teens and 10% of parents admit they have extended, multi-message text conversations while driving, as it relates to the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Virginia Tech has noted that many people resort to using headphones as a “safer” alternative but studies have concluded they are not substantially safer than a held hand device.
